Our Mission

The Burkburnett Meals on Wheels program has served this community since 1979.  It has directly and indirectly touched the lives of many in this community.  

A recent report documents the growing problem of senior hunger in America, and Texas figures prominently in it. Texas ranks #6 in the percent of seniors facing the threat of hunger in the U.S.

The report, titled “The State of Senior Hunger in America 2012: An Annual Report,” was prepared by respected economists Dr. James P. Ziliak and Dr. Craig Gunderson for The Meals on Wheels Research Foundation. The study, which is based on 2012 data (the latest year for which data is available), found 9.3 million seniors face the threat of hunger nationally, and the problem is growing.

In Burkburnett, we struggle to keep up with the growing demand for Meals on Wheels.  Our goal is to get everyone off the waiting list. We can not accomplish this without YOUR help.
